Disposable or Cloth

What type of diapers do you feel are the best for the environment? Is it disposable diapers or cloth diapers. Well traditional thought is that the cloth diaper is re-usable and does not contribute to landfill, but think about it -- you will use a lot of water washing those dirty diapers over and over again. That's waste in water and electricity too. What are your thoughts on this topic of debate? What about disposable diapers made from recycled or eco-friendly materials?
